Everyone knows I'm a sucker for good deals, right?

So, when this oatmeal was essentially free 2 weeks ago at Smiths I stocked up! I went to grab my regular Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal off the shelf when I noticed this "High Fiber" edition and thought I'd better try it. For anyone who has ever done Weight Watchers (which I claim I'm doing but haven't counted my points for over a month now) extra fiber = fewer points.
I made myself a bowl of this oatmeal before I went to work yesterday. I figured it would keep me full because you never know when you'll get a break (sometimes it's not until 9 hours after you get there, sometimes it's not at all!). All day long I felt really gassy. I had also taken 4 different kinds of fruit with me to snack on...maybe that was it?!?! I even snarted in my patient's room (but I don't think anyone noticed this time).

Fast forward to this morning. I wake up, think I'd better have me another bowl of that "High Fiber" oatmeal again. So nutritious, right? WRONG! Well, probably nutritious but NOT good on the bowels. My poor family! My kids kept asking me all day long if I'd just tooted and the answer was YES. Yes, I tooted all day long....really stinky toots that grossed me out (you know they're bad if you gross yourself out!) So I've learned, NOT to be eaten before heading off to work and DEFINITELY NOT 2 days in a row. I feel I've done my job if I can save just one person the misery of discovering this on their own. You're welcome!

What I'm thankful for today...

My DVR because I LOVE TV but I can watch shows on my own time...without kids running all around...and no commercials!
My Tulips blooming in my yard....best part? I didn't plant them. They came as a totally GREAT surprise this spring! (and tulips are my favorite flower!)

That I can have a break from my kids, and have the BEST JOB in the WHOLE WORLD!!!!

Well, who doesn't love Curious George? I especially love him because Cole loves him, and he will sit quietly and watch him....as long as Cole doesn't get any new ideas!

Yummy! I have a new obsession with these delectable bites of yumminess!

A nice hot shower after a long dirty camping trip can't be beat! TOTALLY thankful for my shower last night after we got home!

Word to the Wise...

...if you're going to go 4-wheeling (and especially if you're going to wear gloves) don't forget the sunscreen!

Jackson the 'callipitter'

Alex and Rachel found a caterpillar at Grandma & Grandpa Braithwaite's house yesterday. They thought it was really fun letting him crawl on their hands. Alex named him Jackson (because that's a perfectly good name for a caterpillar!). Well, he set Jackson down for a while and then couldn't find him again for a while. Eventually Alex found him and picked him up and started playing with him again when suddenly he tossed him to the ground and said, "That's not Jackson" I asked him how he knew that and he said,"That callipitter tried to bite me. Jackson wouldn't bite me!" Okay bud, whatever!

p.s. I figured out how to post with pics from my phone! I am soooo smrt!

(Her-uh-kin)

Yup...that`s officially how you say it! That`s where we are spending our first camping trip of the year. Ok, so it`s Sand Hollow (but isn`t it so much more fun to say Hurricane?). I haven`t figured out how to add pictures directly from my phone to my blog so I`ll have to add them later. The fact that I can post from my phone still amazes me...I know, it doesn`t take much.

After spending the night in the in-laws driveway in our motorhome we headed over here to thw campsite. It`s been a really fun day with great weather.

Alex had a chance to ride his 4-wheeler around for a long time which made him really happy.

Rachel was just happy to be having "the best day EVER!"...which, by the way, she says everyday. She rode on the back of my 4-wheeler and talked my ear off the whole time.

Cole went on his first of many to come rides behind Daddy. He LOVED it! He also learned how to climb out of his play n` pack today so that`s fun for me!

I had a day of much diminished whiny/bored kids and I don`t think they asked for a snack even once! Plus, I got to ride my 4-wheeler around for a while which I haven`t done in a long time.

Jason was able to go for a long ride on his motocross bike with his brother (w/o kids) so that made his day.

Hopefully tomorrow can be just as great as today!

A Post a Day...

I have really been slacking on doing new posts lately. It makes me sad because when I go back to a year ago I was doing pretty good about posting 1-2 times a week. So, I was challenged by Maranda to try to do a post a day for a month
...letls see how this goes! Ready, set, POST!

Who wants to see my Fruit Basket????

Uhhhh, I mean my Basket o' Fruits and Veggies! Okay, I hesitate to share this information with the world because I'm selfish (there are only a select number of spots per site) but anyone who knows me, knows I can't find a good deal and not brag about it! These fruits and veggies come from a co-op called Bountiful Baskets. Basically you sign up for your produce on Monday from the Bountiful Baskets Website and then pick it up on Saturday (in your own laundry basket) at your designated location. Easy, huh? And CHEAP!!! I got all this produce for $15!!!

Here's What I got:

  • a bunch of Romaine Lettuce
  • a bunch of celery
  • a bag of potatoes
  • 3 bunches of broccoli
  • 4 artichokes
  • 6 mangoes
  • 18 clementines
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 4 zucchini's
  • 2 bunches of bananas
  • a bag of apples

Now, you don't get to pick what you get, but DANG, I didn't know I liked mangoes and I would NEVER have bought artichokes...it's kinda adventurous and fun!

Alex and Rachel couldn't wait to taste the "healthy food"...oh boy, what does that say about my cooking?

And here's a direct quote for Rachel, "If everyone ate all the fruits and vegetables in the whole world, then we would all have diarrhea everyday!"
Insightful.
So, if you're interested, check out the website. They have a ton of different sites all over Utah and in Arizona and Idaho. Thanks Maranda for the tip!
