Oh, what to do with him????

Alex went to play at Emma's house yesterday....only to put gum in her hair a little while later. Needless to say, I got a not so happy JoRae calling me to tell me all about it. Apparently he did it on purpose (Rachel told him to do it). I never got the whole story but something to do with a fort and either Rachel or Alex wasn't allowed inside it....whatever! It makes me soooooo stinkin mad when my kids misbehave at other peoples houses. I get so embarrassed because I think that other people (not you JoRae, but other people) think I don't discipline my kids. NOT TRUE. I have had that ugly yell voice out more than I can tell you (especially lately).

I just wish my kids were more like I was as a child. Not to say I was an angel, but really truly I had respect for other people - especially my friend's parents. When my mom asked me to do something I didn't argue with her...I did it. Plain and simple. Why aren't my kids like this? Please tell me why? And the answer isn't because I don't discipline them. I just don't get it!

Moving on with the story....So Alex gets home from Emma's house and he's immediately sent to his room until dinner. He goes after arguing with me for a few minutes, fine. I call him for dinner, he eats, and then he's off. Since when is it okay to take off and not tell me where he's going? Never! We go outside and yell for him repeatedly...no Alex. About 20 minutes later I get a call from JoRae..."Did you know your son is at my house?" No, but send him home immediately! He walks in the door and I tell him he's in for the night because he took off w/o asking. He fights, argues, tries to negotiate, blah, blah, blah. I don't give in.

Suddenly he remembers that he left his bike and scooter out and says he's going to go outside and put them away and be right back in...okay, whatever, I'm busy cleaning up from dinner and doing dishes. He's out there for about 10 minutes so I go out to see him riding his green machine around the driveway. He looks up and gives me the "oh crap, I'm busted" look. That's right buster, now you're in bigger trouble! He got sent to his bed for the night now! Of course this wasn't without whining, crying, more negotiating, trying to explain, drama....

He's in there for an hour or so and calls me into see this:

from: Alex
to: Mom Dad
Mom I am The sryist boy in the wrld Sow can i cum out nuow Mom

Translation: Mom, I am the sorriest boy in the world. So, can I come out now?

It did make me smile a little bit and it made me happy that at least he felt sorry...but it didn't make up for all the grief he caused me yesterday!

How-la-freakin-loo-ya!!!! He's only been able to go since November.....cross your fingers for me that it's a sign of easier Sundays to come!

Savin' Like a Rockstar!

Saving money makes me:
First thing this morning I went and got my fruits/veggies from the co-op:
That would be 3 packages of Blackberries, Romain Lettuce, Spinach, 4 artichokes, 9 apples, 8 tomatoes, a bag of radishes, a honeydew melon, a cantaloupe, 7 kiwi's, 8 bananas, and 2 cucumbers for $15!!!!
Then I headed over to Walmart and did some awesome price matching! I basically took all the ads that come in the mailbox this week, wrote down the best prices, cut my coupons that went along with the stuff on sale and instead of heading off to 4 different stores I went to 1! Here's what I got:
Remember my new obsession? Only 50 cents a piece!

$3.98 for 2 lbs of cheese...and a good brand at that!

$0.61 each after my coupon!

$1.28/loaf...why not get 6 of them????

$0.98 each....too bad I couldn't find a coupon to go with them...coulda been a money maker!

$0.48 each, not as good as when they were a quarter at Smith's a few weeks ago, but still pretty impressive!

$0.25 each! Love me some yogurt!!!

This was one of my more favorite deals. I called Jessica to tell her that this was on sale for $12.99 @ Reams because she LOVES this. Luckily Laura answered the phone and told me she found it for $10 @ Nordstrom Rack. Did Walmart match that? Sure did! $10 for Big Sexy Hair!

Okay, but my all time favorite deal of the day? Walmart PAID ME $0.06 to take these lovely Capri Sun's off the shelf!!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Is this some sort of April Fools joke that lasts all month long?

Alright, I've tried to be patient. I've tried not to complain, but HELL! When is this weather going to improve? This is what I woke up to this morning:

That structure on the middle of my grass is our swing set. That got blown over Tuesday night by that terrible windstorm.

These would be my lounge chairs that I'm supposed to lounging on...working on my tan/reading a book/sipping on Diet Coke. NOT to be covered in snow with!!!!!

Remember the lovely tulips that were bringing me so much joy? Yeah. Snow covered.

I hope I wake up tomorrow to better weather, the sun shining and MAY! No more April, thank you very much!

I feel so brave!

Today I did a very brave thing...I went to a movie with my 3 children ALL BY MYSELF! What makes this so brave? Well, for starters Cole has never been to a movie before (why would I take a baby to a movie? He's not even 2 yet!) The second reason this makes me so brave is that Cole has a very HIGH PITCHED/EAR PIERCING scream that is very unpredictable and surfaces on a very regular basis. Third reason? Simple. I'm outnumbered.

So why would I attempt this? Well, Alex is off track and it's been such crappy weather that he's been trapped inside the house the entire time. I was feeling so guilty that his time off track has been so boring. So I did a smart thing and bribed Alex and Rachel with the whole "if you clean the toy room I will take you to a movie" trick...and it worked marvelously! My house is clean, we got out for a while, and we had a GREAT time!

I couldn't believe how good my kids were. Even Cole was a dream come true! We saw: I know it's been out for a long time, but obviously we hadn't seen it. It was actually a really cute movie. I didn't even mind sitting through it. Of course, it didn't hurt that each kid had one of these:
Cole even fell asleep half-way through the movie and woke up happy. Alex and Rachel kept thanking me and telling me how much they loved me after the movie was over. It really was great and it made me realize how much I actually LOVE that my kids are getting older!

Everyone knows I'm a sucker for good deals, right?

So, when this oatmeal was essentially free 2 weeks ago at Smiths I stocked up! I went to grab my regular Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal off the shelf when I noticed this "High Fiber" edition and thought I'd better try it. For anyone who has ever done Weight Watchers (which I claim I'm doing but haven't counted my points for over a month now) extra fiber = fewer points.
I made myself a bowl of this oatmeal before I went to work yesterday. I figured it would keep me full because you never know when you'll get a break (sometimes it's not until 9 hours after you get there, sometimes it's not at all!). All day long I felt really gassy. I had also taken 4 different kinds of fruit with me to snack on...maybe that was it?!?! I even snarted in my patient's room (but I don't think anyone noticed this time).

Fast forward to this morning. I wake up, think I'd better have me another bowl of that "High Fiber" oatmeal again. So nutritious, right? WRONG! Well, probably nutritious but NOT good on the bowels. My poor family! My kids kept asking me all day long if I'd just tooted and the answer was YES. Yes, I tooted all day long....really stinky toots that grossed me out (you know they're bad if you gross yourself out!) So I've learned, NOT to be eaten before heading off to work and DEFINITELY NOT 2 days in a row. I feel I've done my job if I can save just one person the misery of discovering this on their own. You're welcome!
