Lovin' my little Rachel

Rachel had a birthday party today next door. I was expecting her home at 1:00, but I heard a knock on my door about 12:45. Apparently she wanted to come home early. My neighbors just aerated their lawn and Rachel was freaking out because she thought the dirt clods were dog poop and there was no talking her out of it that it wasn't. The girl's dad even had to carry her off the lawn because she was freaking out so bad! What a funny girl.

Then, a little while later, Rachel and I had an interesting converstaion. While taking a bubble bath and reading a book (one of my pregnancy guilty pleasures), Rachel walks into the bathroom and looks like she is about to cry.

Me: What's wrong?

Rachel: My baby (rubbing her tummy . . . yes, we have to pretend she has one in her tummy too.)

Me: What about your baby?

Rachel: It's making me have an eyeball! (very near tears)

Me: (huh . . . pause) What does that mean?

Rachel: I fink I'm getting sick.

Me: Okay, go lay down on the couch and I'll be there in a minute.

A little while later, after my bath, I come out into the family room and she is asleep on the couch. I have no idea where she comes up with some of the stuff she says, but I love her to death! Here are a few things about Rachel that I love:
  • She will push my cheeks together and says "You're a Cute Little Mommy!"
  • She asks me "How was your sleep?" when I wake up in the morning.
  • She loves to sing and constantly makes up songs that usually begin with "Jesus wants me . . . " (I always think it will continue with 'for a sunbeam', but it doesn't)
  • She entertains herself really well.
  • She usually obeys me.
  • She is very loving. She tells me that she loves me all day long and gives me the best hugs!
  • Yesterday I was feeling really sick (the stupid flu) and she kept kissing me on the forehead.

She is such a sweet girl and I'm so glad she's mine!

Book Club

I decided to try a new blog just for the book club. Check it out and let me know what you think (Book Club under my links). It obviously needs some adjustments but I think it should be fun. We all like to hear about good books, right?

Struggles

I have always considered myself to be somewhat smart, but sometimes . . .

Every time I go to put a comment on someones blog and you have to type in the little "cfkjmnsr" code (you know what I mean), I ALWAYS mess it it. Then I get the dumbed down version that only has 5 letters instead of 8. At first I thought I was just going too fast, so I started to slow it down. Didn't help. Every time it seems I have to type it in at least twice and if I do happen to get it on the first try I'm amazed.

Am I the only one with this problem? Probably.

Can I have my bed back, Please?

Jason has been really sick this week. It started Saturday night with chills and aches. It progressively got worse until Wednesday he walked in the door at 11:00 am, walked straight to the bed and collapsed without saying a word (shoes, coat, and all). Those of you who don't know Jason very well, he never misses work. NEVER. And, according to him, if you get sick, then you just ignore it and it will go away. WHATEVER! It sounds like it's the flu that's going around, but the worst part is the headache.

Anyway, he told me that if I got his sickness I would be "screwed" because I can't take anything right now except Tylenol. So, he insisted I not sleep in the same bed as him. A few months ago this would have been no problem because we had a guest room. Now it's the baby's room and the queen-sized bed is now Rachel's. The kids were already asleep, Jason had taken over our bedroom, and I wasn't about to do bed swapping with the kids at 11:00 pm. So, I ended up on the couch. We have had the same couches for 10 years. They are getting quite uncomfortable and because they are leather, my body pillow (now a necessity) kept slipping off. What a pain! Needless to say, it wasn't the best night sleep I've ever had. Last night, I slept in Rachel's room and her and Alex shared his bed. Fine and dandy until they decided to wake up at 6:00 and play quite loudly.

Now I'm an ornery old pregnant hag that just wants some sleep! HELP!

uh . . . excuse me?

It looks like Jason has been trying to be sneaky. He keeps telling me that he doesn't like the picture of him that I had posted. So, what does he do? He takes matters into his own hands. I hope you like the "new" picture of us better, honey.

what to say to one who like big butt?

It has come to my attention that one of my friends from the Arab Nation found my blog by a google search of the above title. In their quest for the perfect response, I implore all of my readers to leave a comment on the answer to this question.

Tag, Tag, Taggaroo

Who do I love? None other than the wonderful Jason Riches Braithwaite

How long did you date? We started dating when I was still in High School, he in college (older man, ha ha), and dated for about 2 1/2 years before tying the knot.

Who said 'I Love You' first? He did, I still remember where we were. We were sitting in my driveway in his old brown truck. I was freezing to death (because he doesn't have the ability to get cold, he had no idea) but I didn't want to go in because we were having such a good time talking. Then he let me have it . . . funny, I can't remember if I said it back or not . . . huh

Who is taller? It would be really sad if I were taller. Him of course.

Who can sing better? He can do a mean "It's Joe Albertson's Supermart!", him of course. Have any of you ever heard me sing? Not a good thing.

Who is smarter? If I am answering this question honestly, I would probably have to go with him. I am smart, don't get me wrong, but he is an observer. Not much gets past him!

Who does the laundry? Me, of course. He would say nobody because sometimes (okay, somewhere between 30%-50% of the time) we pick our undies out of the laundry basket because I don't fold it.

Who pays the bills? He does. I used to, but just got lazy about it and then he HAD to take over.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does, closer to the window.

Who mows the lawn? He does. He is a bit of a perfectionist. One day he was really busy and I offered to do it. I thought I did a fine job, but I have never been "allowed" to do it since. I'm just glad it doesn't take him 3 hours to do it anymore like it did in our Draper house.

Who cooks dinner? Me, always and forever. Well, me and Signature Suppers, of course. Are you kidding, him cook? He barely knows how to make a sandwich.

Who drives? Him, always and forever. He claims that he had to put me through Driving 101 when we first started dating. It drives him NUTS to have me drive, and to be honest, it isn't too fun having him critique every move I make.

I love you honey, I hope I didn't "throw you under the bus" as you would say. So, there you go. All the tagging fun you can have. I think I will stop it here because everyone I know has already been tagged.
