I am not in an official book club, just one the JoRae and I formed. Anyone is welcome to join, but so far we have only read one book together. "A Thousand Splendid Suns" came as a recommendation from her and I am so glad I read it. It was sooo good. If any of you have read the "Kite Runner", it is similar as far as where it takes place, but much better and happier. I would recommend it to anyone.
I tried to make a goal to read more this year. So far, I have read "The Glass Castle", also a very good book, and am currently reading "Unspoken" by Francine Rivers. It is a book about Bathsheba . . . I know, sounds pretty boring, but actually I am quite enjoying it. It tells the story from her perspective which is quite different than what I thought.
Our new book club selection will be . . . "The Guardian" by Nicolas Sparks. Come one, come all and join the book club (that means you, Jamie).

I'm sooooo there! I have read other Nicholas Sparks novels and have enjoyed them, so off to Barnes & Noble I go to get this one. Don't be a speed reader though because I can't buy it til tomorrow. . .I think I'm gonna get -1,000 Splendid Suns- too. It looks good. Best Book club I've ever been in. (You should also know that I've never been in a Book Club before) but still. . .Best one ever!
I agree. What kind of club do you get both Fanc and me in the same place. Now Eller is on board. Wahoo!
I loved 'Glass castle' and 'Kite runner.' I need to read 'thousand splendid suns' next. I just finished "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair who wrote "There will be blood" the movie with Daniel Day Lewis, the movie is awesome. "The Jungle" single handedly reformed meat packing plant at the turn of the century and is a brutal tale of immigrants suffering in the US. A Fantastic book.
Love ya,
Eli
