Bye Bye Binkie!

It's gonzo....for good! I hadn't really planned on taking away Cole's Binky quite yet but circumstances forced me to do it. He lost his only undamaged Binky at the babysitters house last week. The only other binks we had floating around had holes in them. So, when we tried to give them to him he would just chuck 'em. I wasn't about to go buy him new ones so there you have it....gone.
Unfortunately he also decided to learn how to crawl out of his crib on the same day we took the Binky away. Somehow I have a feeling it wasn't a coincidence....little buddy suddenly had a reason to try to escape. Oh, heaven help me!
This was our reaction!

I am the Boss...The Cake Boss!

Holy yummy cake! I made these cakes for my Mom's Birthday/Mother's Day party. Not only were they yummy, they were pretty too!
This one was Devil's food cake, with a vanilla cream frosting and crushed Oreo's in the middle, topped with white modeling chocolate (nope, it's not fondant...it's chocolate!!!) Let's just say that I'm glad it was a popular cake because my waistline and self control couldn't handle leftovers!!!

I pretty ticked that this cake got ruined. It actually was really cute before it had to be transported in the car for 45 minutes. Simple white cake with milk chocolate frosting and white chocolate lettering.
I'm glad Mother Nature decided to give us moms a nice present on Mother's Day. The weather was soooooooo nice. We were able to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine. I hope all you mother's out there had a great day too! (Apparently I'm getting the bike trailer that I wanted but my hubby is searching for a good deal on a used one...I'll post pictures when I get it)

Rachel finally learns to ride her bike!!!!!

I took Rachel's training wheels off about a year ago and technically she could ride it then, but she'd freak out when I let go, scream at me, and then lose her balance (she can be quite lovely at times!). However today she did it! All it took was the mention of a family bike ride and her not being able to ride and that was all the motivation she needed.

I was really proud of Alex because he was the one that took her to the end of the street, hung on to the back of her bike, got her going and then let go.........and she took off! When he's not teasing her he can be a really great big brother.
She rode her bike for HOURS today and went to bed talking about riding her bike (how much fun it was, that she's going to practice everyday, that she wants to ride it again tomorrow....). She's probably dreaming about riding her bike at this very moment.
So, for all the crappy mom moments I write about, this was a really proud moment for me. I'm so proud of her (and Alex too for helping her). What a great way to lead into Mother's Day!!!!

I'll show you my blossoms if you'll show me yours!

Okay, so there're not really my blossoms, they belong to the hospital but they brightened my day as I walked into work this morning.
Oh, how I love spring!

Am I really going to admit to this?

This is what I'm gonna be working on come Friday (I have to work tomorrow). My mom would call it the "quivering stack"....I'd call it "a hell of a lot of laundry to fold". Should be loads of fun!!!!!

Oh, what to do with him????

Alex went to play at Emma's house yesterday....only to put gum in her hair a little while later. Needless to say, I got a not so happy JoRae calling me to tell me all about it. Apparently he did it on purpose (Rachel told him to do it). I never got the whole story but something to do with a fort and either Rachel or Alex wasn't allowed inside it....whatever! It makes me soooooo stinkin mad when my kids misbehave at other peoples houses. I get so embarrassed because I think that other people (not you JoRae, but other people) think I don't discipline my kids. NOT TRUE. I have had that ugly yell voice out more than I can tell you (especially lately).

I just wish my kids were more like I was as a child. Not to say I was an angel, but really truly I had respect for other people - especially my friend's parents. When my mom asked me to do something I didn't argue with her...I did it. Plain and simple. Why aren't my kids like this? Please tell me why? And the answer isn't because I don't discipline them. I just don't get it!

Moving on with the story....So Alex gets home from Emma's house and he's immediately sent to his room until dinner. He goes after arguing with me for a few minutes, fine. I call him for dinner, he eats, and then he's off. Since when is it okay to take off and not tell me where he's going? Never! We go outside and yell for him repeatedly...no Alex. About 20 minutes later I get a call from JoRae..."Did you know your son is at my house?" No, but send him home immediately! He walks in the door and I tell him he's in for the night because he took off w/o asking. He fights, argues, tries to negotiate, blah, blah, blah. I don't give in.

Suddenly he remembers that he left his bike and scooter out and says he's going to go outside and put them away and be right back in...okay, whatever, I'm busy cleaning up from dinner and doing dishes. He's out there for about 10 minutes so I go out to see him riding his green machine around the driveway. He looks up and gives me the "oh crap, I'm busted" look. That's right buster, now you're in bigger trouble! He got sent to his bed for the night now! Of course this wasn't without whining, crying, more negotiating, trying to explain, drama....

He's in there for an hour or so and calls me into see this:

from: Alex
to: Mom Dad
Mom I am The sryist boy in the wrld Sow can i cum out nuow Mom

Translation: Mom, I am the sorriest boy in the world. So, can I come out now?

It did make me smile a little bit and it made me happy that at least he felt sorry...but it didn't make up for all the grief he caused me yesterday!
